Blondie
Recommended by: Anthony Bansie
Blondie is a rock band formed by singer Deborah Harry and guitarist Chris stein in 1975. The band was the most commercially successful band to emerge from the punk/new wave movement in the late '70s which also gave rise to avant-garde rockers Talking Heads. Though they released their first album in December 1976, the band did not rise to commercial fame until 1978 when they achieved their first Top Ten hit (in the U.K.). Blondie's American success was affirmed when the album's third single, "Heart of Glass," was released and shot to number one on both the U.S. and U.K. charts. Blondie is also responsible for writing the 80's anthem "Call Me" for the movie American Gigolo. Blondie broke up in 1982 and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame in 2006.
