Hanneke Cassel

Hanneke Cassel is a folk violinist from Orgeon whose innovative sound masterfully blends Scottish violin tradition with a vide variety of international musical influences. In 2000, Cassel graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts with a Bachelors of Music in Violin Performance. Cassel is a two time U.S. National Junior Scottish Fiddle Champion (1992, 1994), and one time U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Champion (1997). She recorded her first studio album, My Joy, in 2001 with producer Laura Risk (a Californian violinist) and has recorded six albums since then with various guest musicians. Cassel, who has performed across North America, Europe, New Zealand, Australia, and China, tours regularly as a solo artist and with Baroque/Celtic group Ensemble Galilei.
