Formed in Minneapolis, MN, in August 2006, Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapelles wasted no time getting into the studio. By November 2007 they were recording and by July 2008, their first album, Orang Peels and Rattlesnakes was released. In that short time, Michelle and her cohorts have quietly started snowballing one of the Twin Cities' most diverse and rapidly growing fan bases. With a sound that combines dashes of old-fashioned country, folk, and polka with otherworldly tinges of Gypsy and flamenco, Michelle's music appeals just as much to the NPR crowd as it does to those of the rock-club persuasion. The band lineup features Lucy Michelle on vocals/Ukelele/Piano, Geoff Freeman on Drums/vocals, Chris Graham on Guitar, Ashley Boman on Accordion/trinket jar and Eamonn McLain on Cello/Throat Trombone.
