Spoon

Spoon is an indie rock band from Austen, Texas. Formed by singer/guitarist Britt Daniel and drummer Jim Eno in the early 1993, Spoon's early work drew comparisons to bands such as The Pixies and Wire, but was met with mixed reviews. As the band matured (and picked up members Eric Harvey and Rob Pope along the way), their success grew. Spoon was signed by the indie rock label Merge Records (The Arcade Fire, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Magnetic Fields) in early 2000, and went on to release albums Girls Can Tell and Kill the Moonlight over the next two years. Both were well received, and the latter included the single "The Way We Get By," which was featured in the television drama The O.C. as well as the film Stranger than Fiction. Spoon's later releases, Gimme Fiction and Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga, both debuted at #1 on The Billboard Independent Albums, and their most recent release, Transference, hit #4 in The Billboard Top 200.
